2012 Board of Directors

SEAT ONE: MIKE WHITE & LARRY CONNOR

Mike White

Mike WhiteMike White has over 27 years of petroleum reservoir engineering experience. He began his career with Exxon and then subsequently worked for a variety of independent E&P firms both in technical and management capacities. He currently is a Sr. Reservoir Engineer with Denver-based Resolute Energy Corporation supporting Mowry Shale exploration and development operations in Wyoming.

Mike has been a member of SPEE since 2001. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas and holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University and an MBA (finance specialty) from the University of Houston.

Mike is currently the 2011 SPEE Denver Chapter Chairman after having cycled through several chapter positions in a four-year rotation. He has been instrumental in relocating and upgrading the Denver Chapter's quarterly luncheon meetings leading to a doubling of average attendance. Mike also implemented an on-line event reservation and credit card facility for the Denver chapter's use. Mike is also coordinating with members of the Qualifications Committee to hold a first-of-its-kind new-member workshop for qualified prospective new members. Should it prove successful, it may be used as a model for other chapters.

Mike and his wife of 24 years, Laura, and two children reside in Littleton, Colorado enjoying all that Colorado has to offer. But they have also called Houston, Dallas and New Orleans home at various times over the years.

Larry Connor

Larry ConnorLarry is a 1977 Engineering graduate of Texas A&M University. He has 34 years of reservoir engineering experience and is currently employed by Ryder Scott Company as Managing Senior Vice President. Currently Larry is assigned as the Office Manager in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he oversees the operations and directs Ryder Scott's evaluations in the FSU and Europe. Over the years, Larry has conducted numerous oil and gas economic evaluations for use in SEC reports, Competent Persons Reports for the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market (AIM), initial public offering (IPO) filings, bank reports, acquisition-and divestiture transactions, tax valuations, project and investment justifications and various other end uses.

Prior to joining Ryder Scott in 1981 Larry worked for Amoco Production Company in various staff positions in the District and Region offices. During his service at Amoco he worked as a production engineer, Secondary Operations and Reservoir Studies Group and West Texas Operations Group.

During his career, Larry has performed detailed reserves estimates within the United States and Canada as well as a multitude of international areas such as Gabon, Angola, Indonesia, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Italy, Malaysia, Peoples Republic of China, Poland, Thailand, Turkey, Tunisia and the United Kingdom.

Larry is a member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers and in the past has served as Chairman for the Houston SPEE Chapter. Larry is also active in the SPE.

He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Associations of Professional Engineers, Geophysicists and Geologist of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

SEAT TWO: CURT TAYLOR & PAUL TAYLOR

Curt Taylor

Managing Director – Head of the Oil & Gas Group

Curt is currently the head of the oil & gas group of EIG Global Energy Partners (a spin out from Trust Company of the West as of 1/1/2011) which is a company that invests globally in oil & gas (upstream & midstream), power, mining, alternatives and infrastructure, managing about $10 billion. He was previously a partner with Stratum Group L.P., where he was responsible for business development and technical review of structured oil and gas transactions. Prior to that, he had his own firm, Taylor & Company, where he assisted oil & gas companies with capital formation, acquisitions and engineering evaluation. Previous associations were with Resource Investors Management Company, First City Bancorporation, Cawley Gillespie & Associates and Union Oil Company of California.

Mr. Taylor received his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and his M.B.A. from the University of Houston. He is a registered professional engineer. During his career he has been associated with several organizations including the SPEE, where he has spoken for several local chapters and the SPE, where he spent several years in the reservoir group, eventually serving as its president.

Paul Taylor

Paul TaylorPaul works as a petroleum engineer with McDaniel International Inc. in the United Kingdom. The firm specializes in geological studies, reserves evaluations, resource assessments, economic evaluations and petroleum engineering studies. McDaniel International is a subsidiary of the Canadian based McDaniel & Associates Consultants Ltd. and was formed to work exclusively on properties outside of Canada. Currently Paul heads up the McDaniel International UK office and holds the position of Vice President. Paul is a Chartered Petroleum Engineer registered with the UK Engineering Council.

Paul started his career with Shell International and spent 15 years working as a reservoir engineer in the UK, Brunei and Oman. After leaving Shell he then went to work with a number of different independents based in the UK: Enterprise Oil; Canadian Natural Resources, PetroKazakhstan; and Pioneer Natural Resources. In 2006 he joined McDaniel International.

Paul was actively involved in forming the European Chapter of the SPEE and is currently serving as Chairman. Paul believes that no other organization has the collective knowledge and experience that the SPEE brings to the subject of reserves evaluation and as such has a vital role to play in the wider industry. Paul would now like to serve on the SPEE Board of Directors and so help ensure the continued health of this great society.

SEAT THREE: DEE PATTERSON & ATTILA SZABO

DEE Patterson

Dee PattersonDee Patterson is a Managing Director at Moyes & Co. based in Dallas, Texas. Dee has been an active member of SPEE since 1995 and has previously held all the Dallas Chapter office positions on multiple occasions and regularly attends the Annual Meeting. He is currently serving on the Qualifications Committee.

Moyes & Co., Inc. is a professional firm based in Dallas & Houston, Texas & London, England. The core of the Firm's professional advice is related to energy activity, contracts, transactions, economics, valuation of assets, business units and entities and raising funds for companies in the domestic and international oil and gas sector. The Firm provides high quality bespoke professional services, advice on corporate and financial planning, buy and sell side M&A, farm-outs, financings, and valuations in the E&P sector.

Dee holds degrees in Engineering and a MBA in Corporate Finance. He is a Registered Engineer in Texas a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE), South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society (SEAPEX) and Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).

Attila Szabo

Attila SzaboAttila is joined Sproule Associates Limited as a Partner in 2011 and has over 30 years experience, primarily in the area of the coordination and evaluation of property reserve evaluations throughout Canada in addition to various international projects in China, India, Kuwait, Pakistan and the United States. Attila has also provided support to legal teams for litigation and has provided expert witness testimony. Attila has many years' experience mentoring staff, leading to the engineers receiving their professional status and the technical support staff acquiring their certified accreditation. He has also been involved in training and education of professional staff from other countries.

Prior to joining Sproule, Attila was a Senior Vice-President at DeGolyer and MacNaughton Canada Limited from 2004-2011; was Senior-Vice President at Outtrim Szabo Associates Ltd. (Calgary, Alberta) from 1992-2004; was a Manager of Evaluations at D&S Petroleum Consulting Group Ltd. (Calgary, Alberta) from 1985-1992; was a field engineer and a reservoir engineer for Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Limited (Calgary, Alberta) from 1980-1985.

Attila holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, which he earned in 1980 at the University of Calgary and is currently a member of:
• Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA)
• Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)
• Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE)

Special Recognitions Received:
• The Outstanding Service Award in 1999 from the Petroleum Society of CIM.
• Service Award from SPE International in 2004 for outstanding volunteer service.

He has served on many technical committees and conferences with the SPE and the Petroleum Society. Attila is past chairman and vice-chairman of the Calgary Chapter of the SPEE, and currently is actively involved with the maintenance, update and the distribution of the Canadian Oil and Gas Evaluations Handbook (COGEH).
